When we were first told about the teaching philosophy, I was very nervous and I had no idea what I was about to say. Since as long as I have wanted to be a teacher, I have never really thought about how I am going to teach, and what ideals I want to portray to my students. After the reading that was assigned for homework, and seeing what other teacher’s philosophies were, and what they want their student’s experiences to be like, I think I have a more clear idea of what this assignment is asking for. I do not want to stand in front of a classroom, and lecture the students on information. Of course it is important for the students to learn math, science, history and such, but I think that it is more than just those things. The children need to learn about responsibility, and how to act in social situations. Especially being a special education teacher, It will be important for the students just to learn how to live a normal life, and accomplish things that may be easy for others, but not for those with intellectual/mental disabilities. I want to be someone who can be there for the students, someone that they can talk to and approach when they have a problem.
